U8s make their Stokey debuts at Primrose Hill

SNCC U8s v Primrose Hill U8s on Saturday 27 June at Regents Park

With the sun shining, Stoke Newington U8s won the toss and batted first against Primrose Hill.  All pairs batted well with good communication and lost only two wickets.  In particular Oscar and Ayo early in the innings and Oliver at the end put the Primrose Hill bowling to the sword with a succession of boundaries. We therefore reached a total of 283 (having started at 200).

Primrose Hill had some strong batsmen who put pressure on our bowlers, particularly early on, but the bowlers kept their composure and in all cases improved accuracy during their two overs. Standout bowlers were Ahmed (a touch of leg-spinner about his action), Aaman (2 wickets), Ayo, Dexter and Oliver  (a wicket each), as well as James and William who were most accurate. Oscar was captain on the day and organised his field well as well as taking four catches (the last of which was particularly good, diving forward). What was also notable was the team spirit, togetherness and encouragement the boys gave each other which was good to see and definitely made a difference between the teams.

So all-in-all a good day. What turned-out to be a comfortable win for the team and a very enjoyable couple of hours in the sun for parents around the boundary who supported the team well.
