U15s win at the wire on Marshes debut

Sunday 26 June 2011: SNCC U15s - 113 all out vs Clapton U15s - 110.  Won by 3 runs (league).

On the hottest day of the year, the U15's played their first ever 'home' game at the Marshes against Clapton.  With some SNCC players missing, Clapton agreed to bowl first and picked up some early wickets with Arthur and James falling early.  Stanley came to the crease and looked comfortable.  Clapton bowled erratically with a huge number of wides, culminating in one of their bowlers walking off midway through his over.  Chay left his crutches at the boundary and came in at number 10 with a runner, making a much needed 10 runs before holing out at deep long-on.  SNCC finished on 113 off their 20 overs.

Irfan and Arthur both bowled good line and length putting pressure on a strong opening batting pair.  Robin and Johnny picked up a wicket each, but Clapton started to hit out and were 39 for 2 as loose balls gave too away too many extras.  Johnny picked up a second wicket and Timon also picked up a couple, but Clapton were past the 100 mark with three overs to go.  Against all odds it came down to the last over with Clapton requiring five runs.  Johnny withstood the pressure superbly and bowled a magnificent six balls giving away just two runs and picking up two wickets to boot.

A nail-biting game which went down to the wire.  SNCC won by 3 runs.
