Battling U15s knocked out of Cup

Saturday 8 May 2011:  Regent's Park U15s - 163 vs SNCC U15s - 77 all out.  Lost by 86 runs (cup).

After a night of heavy rainfall with a soaked outfield, SNCC U15s faced Regents Park in the 2nd Round of the Cup.

Regents Park batted first and looked reasonably comfortable. Arthur picked up a good early wicket but SNCC gave away too many extras early on. Both Timon and Chay bowled well and picked up a wicket a piece. Keeper James got a great run out hitting the stumps at the bowler's end but the catch of the match went to Irfan. A massive hit soared over deep mid wicket and Irfan ran round and snatched the ball with both hands. Madhur completed the wicket takers but a score of 163 off 20 overs on a sodden pitch was a big ask.

James fell early on but SNCC recovered with Johnny and Chay establishing themselves at the crease and keeping the run rate at around 6.5 at the halfway point. After Johnny was dismissed giving a simple catch at mid off for 13, Chay took the game to them with some excellent batting strokes before holing out to a nice catch at deep mid off having made 29. Madhur and Arthur put up some resistance scoring 7 and 8 respectively but SNCC collapsed in the lower order finishing on 77 all out. SNCC battled hard but Regents Park, on this occasion, were the stronger team.
