Saturday 12 May 2012: Primrose Hill U11A - 28 all out vs SNCC U11A - 29 for 4. Won by six wickets (league).
At last the clouds receded and Stoke Newington’s Under 11s were let off the leash for the first time this summer. And they proceeded to take a giant bite of Primrose Hill’s pride.
Primrose Hill batted first and struggled from the off against consistently accurate bowling from all the Stokey bowlers. The pick was Stanley Bilson-Smith who picked up 2-0 in his two overs. The team were also sharp in the field, taking all their chances – Joe Devlin’s slip catch the pick of the bunch. The wickets fell regularly and it wasn’t long before Primrose Hill were all out for 28.
So Stoke Newington required 29 to win. Despite the loss of a couple of early wickets, Alfie looked determined to be there at the finish. But in the end it was left to Dillon and Sal to see Stokey home by six wickets with just under ten overs remaining. On a slow, low wicket, with an even slower outfield, runs were hard to come by, but Stoke Newington’s more penetrative bowling was the difference between the two teams.
