Sunday 13 May: Hornsey U11A - 64 all out vs SNCC U11A - 65 for 2. Won by eight wickets (league).
The morning after the day before. Would Stoke Newington be able to repeat the excellent performance against Primrose Hill?
Hornsey won the toss and batted on another beautiful morning on the Marshes. After his excellent performance the previous day, Stan was given the new ball and was rewarded with the prize wicket of Hornsey’s best batsman – Alfie taking a sharp chance in the covers.
Stokey picked up where they’d left off, with all ten bowlers contributing, backed up by fine fielding. The slow outfield also contributed to Hornsey’s slightly below-par total of 64.
A couple of early wickets might in previous years have led to a dramatic collapse. But showing great maturity Henry and Dillon slowly built momentum and confidence with sharp running and sensible shots. They added 58 to see Stokey home by eight wickets with five overs to spare. Henry was particularly impressive, top scoring with 37 not out.
Another excellent performance by Stokey and a terrific start to the season.
