Thursday 19 May 2011: SNCC U11s - 101 for 3 vs Primrose Hill U11s A - 88 for 9. Won by 13 runs (cup).
Stoke u11s win cup clash to reach the semi-finals of the central area cup.
Winning the toss, Sal Whitehead (captain) decided to bat. Against some fine bowling from Primrose Hill, Stoke’s openers were kept quiet. Losing Sal Whitehead in the second over for 3, Flint Drummond and Elliot Dixon proceeded to steady the ship and build a partnership of 72, before Elliot was bowled for 20. Lewis Duncan came in to hit a glorious shot over cover to finish on 4 not out. Another excellent batting display from Flint Drummond, who carried his bat to finish on 36 not out. Primrose Hill bowled and fielded well to limit Stoke to 101 for 3.
Henry Pratt opened the Stoke response with some fine off stump bowling, finishing with 2 for 19 off four. With two sharp chances missed in the field his figures do not represent the complete picture. Mixing up the attack, Tom Mills opened from the other end with leg spin. Finishing with 3 for 9 off three overs - well done Tom. Elliot Dixon, Alfie Kingsley-Smith, Oscar Dowling and Sal Whitehead provided some good support with a wicket each. Archie Lloyd and Antanas Weston also bowling well without success. Primrose Hill continued to build a total, to which Stoke contributed with too many wides and no balls. Despite losing wickets along the way, Primrose Hill required 17 off the last over with one wicket left. Tom Mills saw Stoke home with the final over. Primrose Hill finished on 88 for 9.
The conduct in the field was excellent from both sets of players and the game was played in exactly the right spirit.
Stoke won by 13 runs.
