Thursday 5 May 2011: SNCC U11s - 135 for 2 vs Brondesbury U11s - 56 all out. Won by 79 runs (cup).
Against some very accurate bowling from Brondesbury, Flint Drummond and Sal Whitehead opened the batting for Stoke. Putting on 25 in the first four overs, before losing Sal, clean bowled for 7, Stoke made a positive start. There then followed a 95 run partnership in 14 overs between Elliot Dixon and Flint Drummond, finally ending when Elliot was run out for 20. The partnership was highlighted by excellent running between the wickets and some top-class calling. Henry Pratt came in for the final two overs to score 4. Again Flint Drummond carried his bat top-scoring with 50 - an excellent performance. Congratulations on his maiden half century for the club. Stoke scored 135 for 2 off their 20 overs.
Brondesbury got off to poor start against some exceptional bowling from Henry Pratt and Alfie Kingsley-Smith. Henry clean bowled batsman with his first two balls, took a third wicket in the second over and ended the match with figures of 3 for 5 off four overs. Alfie Kingsley-Smith took a wicket in each of his three overs – catches by Antanis Weston and Sal Whitehead and an excellent caught behind by Saul Holliday, our wicket keeper. Clem and Antanis took a further wicket each. A sharp run out reduced Brondesbury to 37 for 9 in the 12th over. Brondesbury dug in and battled hard until the 20th over, putting on a further 22 runs, before Flint Drummond came on to take the final wicket with his first ball of the over. Brondesbury were all out for 56.
It was a fine performance by Stoke Newington with some special cricket being played by all involved. Congratulations!
