We have lift-off!
Tuesday 10 May 2011:  Martians - 82 all out vs SNCC - 83 for 1.  Won by 9 wickets (VPL).

Martians were late landing......so we didn't start till 6.30 and agreed to play only 14 overs.
We chose to bowl, opening with Winston who was right on the money and Irfan who was just scarily fast.  Both bowled well and we kept it very tight. so tight indeed that they started taking silly runs and we got our first wicket as a run out.  The next batsman was bowled by Winston for a duck.  Cam, their opener and best batsman, was still there and he combined with Vig, scoring gently through a good spell by Ali, seam moving both ways, and a loose first over from Sardar which conceded 12 runs.
All changed in Sardar's second over as he found his length and in his third he struck.  First Cam top-edged a very high one which Mark backed towards, but Irfan ran twenty yards to snatch it - Cam out for 41.  Next ball Vig went to the same method, this time Mark backing away under the towering ball called "mine!"... only for Irfan to snatch it again!  Now on a hat-trick Sardar sent in his fast ball, a middle stump yorker - gone!  Simon brought himself on and got the last wicket with a banana ball that started outside off and hit leg stump.  83 to win.
We were 33 for no loss after two overs - Johnny and Ali looking like a serious opening pair.  Ali got too excited and was caught at deep mid-off for 27 after four overs. Winston came in and finished it off after six overs.
