Firsts fall just short in mammoth run-chase
Saturday 25 June 2011: London Fields - 271 for 3 vs SNCC - 261. Lost by 10 runs (NELCL).
London Fields batted first, Simon and Gus opening the bowling. After 10 overs they were 45 for 0, keeper Scott having dropped Killian Toomey when in single figures. After that they got away, not helped by some sloppy fielding.
A couple of run outs helped but London Fields had packed their team with batsman. Gus bowled Will Isaac for a duck late on. After the first 10 overs we went for about 10 an over!

R Friend 138 no
Simon 6 overs, 0 for 19
Gus 5 overs, 1 for 23
Stoke Newington started with a flurry, Scott and Dani hitting 85 from the first ten overs to keep us in the hunt. Scott was caught in the deep for 51 when we were 109. In came Winston. Dani opened up at this stage with some big sixes before being LBW for 70 with the score on 151. Adil joined Winston and almost immediately Winston was bowled by a low one, Ali going the same way a couple of balls later. When Kashif was run out without facing a ball it looked an uphill struggle. But we had 20 overs in hand. Odil and Simon pushed the run rate on with the odd four and lots of quick singles before Odil was run out for 25. In came Furquan - 90 needed off 9. Simon reverse swept the last ball of the innings for four on a batsmans day. We nearly got there losing by 10 runs.
