1st XI wins on its Championship debut

A proud day as Stoke Newington played their first game in an adult Middlesex league.
An early sprinkling of rain did not dampen the mood.

Captain Scott Doody won the toss and chose to bowl.

Openers Zabehulah Mohammad and Gus Walsh fizzed the ball past the ears and bats of the Kay Plus. An arc of slip fielders adding to the intimidation. But despite Walsh getting one and the overs ticking over wickets weren't coming.

On came youngsters Theo Walsh and Irfan Mohmand. Walsh bowled 2.1 overs of lovely inswing before falling and twisting his knee and having to be replaced. Mohmand bowled beautifully picking up a wicket in his third over. Kay Plus just could not score.

On came Doody (replacing Walsh) and Irfan Zakhel bowling left arm swing to a cordon of 8 at one stage! And Zazai's tempting spin.

The wickets came at last!

Kay Plus finally surcomming for 132 in 39 overs.
