Sunday 19 June 2011: SNCC U9s beat Hornsey U9s by 7 runs (friendly)
Stokey win another close encounter with this match going down to the last over. Hornsey won the toss and put Stokey into bat. Some very good bowling and a few rash decisions by the batsman left the visitors with an uphill task. A fantastic opening bowling spell was backed up by some strong bowling in the middle overs and at the death to clinch the win.
U9s coach, Richard Greenleaf, clearly drained but very proud, explained in his post-match interview: "This performance epitomises everything Stoke Newington Cricket Club are trying to achieve by ensuring all children at the club have the chance to play. Today we had a very young and inexperienced team, fielding two boys making their debuts as well as three U8s. This group of boys should be very proud of themselves as they are a credit to their club, parents and themselves. Three boys to mention for great play today - Michael Tucker, Angus Menzies and Adam Boyle."
Stokey win by 7 runs!
