We have started the season with a hat-trick – a new home, new sponsors and new funding.
On the back of a doubling our membership in the last two years we now have a new home at Hackney Marshes, new sponsors in Hackney-based pest control company, Terminex, and we have also just received confirmation of a grant of almost £10,000 from Sport England.
Russell Weston, Terminex director, and father of Antanis who plays for the Under 11s, said: “We are delighted to be supporting one of the best sports clubs in the area and we hope that with our assistance Stoke Newington can grow further and achieve even greater success.”
The Sport England grant will aid our further growth and help develop cricket in primary schools in Hackney.
Club chairman Rob Merry said: “These are very exciting times for the club. The new facilities at Hackney Marshes are already excellent and will be fantastic when they are completed in 2013. The generous support of Terminex and the grant from Sport England mean we will now be able to give even more youngsters the chance to play cricket and achieve their potential.”
Since 2009 the club have doubled in size. ECB-qualified coaches now run training sessions throughout the year for 130 youngsters aged five to 18, including an under 13s girls team.
