Here are the latest two winners of the much-coveted Jack Petchey Achievement Awards.
Billy Vigar (U11s)
Billy showed real focus and commitment at indoor training with the U11 Development Squad last term and this has been reflected in the huge improvement in his medium-pace bowling. Before returning to the nets to practice on his line and length, a delighted Billy made the decision to put his £200 award towards a new kitbag for the inaugural season of SNCC's newly-formed U11 Development team. The squad are currently looking forward to ten friendly fixtures this summer with the prospect of a few more still to be arranged!
Tom Mills (U13s)
U13s coach Izaac Bador, explains: "When Tom moved up from the U11s at the end of last summer he came as a cricketer with some experience and ability; a decent bowler, a competent batsman and a good fielder. What has been most impressive about him in the coaching sessions since then is that he has never been happy to rest on those laurels and has always shown a keenness to improve his technique for the benefit of himself and his team-mates. Additionally, he is polite and attentive, willing to listen, but also be proactive in his development. We're certainly looking forward to key contributions from Tom in both the indoor and outdoor seasons this year."
Tom will be using his £200 award to buy more kit for fielding drills and (clearly a glutton for punishment!) fitness training.
